Serenity Home For Girls, Inc. is a Certified integrated maternity Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP). By housing and supporting both mother and child under one roof to create immediate, multi-generational healing.
Our program serves pregnant and parenting youth ages 13–18, alongside their infants and children ages 0–3, who are system-involved through the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), County Probation Departments, and/or the foster care system.
OUR MISSION
Trauma-Informed Training...
Youth entering our program frequently arrive in a chronic state of survival, overwhelmed by severe trauma and nervous system dysregulation. While their physical necessities (food, shelter, and clothing) are immediately secured, true healing requires a haven of psychological and emotional peace.
To transition these young mothers from survival to serenity, our program utilizes an integrative, trauma-informed neurodevelopmental framework.
OUR VISION
Continued Trauma-Informed Staff Training...
Because our population faces layered vulnerabilities (adolescence, system-involvement, pregnancy/parenting, and complex trauma), all direct-care staff, clinicians, and integrated community partners undergo continuous, advanced training.
Thus ensuring the environment remains clinically sound and predictable:

Complex & Compounded Trauma: Deep-dive training on how chronic trauma, structural adversity, and systemic institutionalization impact adolescent brain development.

Neurodevelopmental Regulation: Equipping staff with practical somatic and verbal de-escalation skills that respect the teen's nervous system, preventing re-traumatization.

Secondary Traumatic Stress Support: To combat burnout and turnover, staff are trained in vicarious trauma identification, peer-support models, and regular clinical debriefings.
